I’ll give you two examples.
Take this first example. In the 2001 Bollywood movie, RHTDM, two protagonists, arch nemesis of each other, in a heated conversation, one asks another, I’ve heard after completing engineering, you’re going to US; for what, maybe accomplishing brooming quest! The other one replies, what I would be doing in US, you would be doing the same thing after completing engineering, in India; the difference is, atleast I would be earning in Dollars. This AFIC (academic financial inferiority complexes was present not only in 2001, but since inception).
Take this second example. I had a word with this Immigrant in US, whilst on a short trip. And informally I enquired that, immigrants are basically titled towards which ideology -> Blue or Red? The person answered, initially they prefer Blue whilst at the settling stage there; but after a certain period, especially after settlement, many tilt towards Red (except certain Communities), as now, they too don’t want more competition or influx from other nations to come, as every dollar counts to live the million dollar American dream, and every *hand counts too (*hand part this person was referring to, was in Support of Assisted Dying (Euthanasia) in Canada, if somehow or due to any issue, any person is not able to Earn, for whatever reasons). But then I thought, when this person came to US, he too also was a competition to someone else. Now going against the same policy this person once enjoyed, as now, someone else would become the recipient of the same privilege, which this person doesn’t like! Strange! Now, I corrected this person and said that, maybe it’s not the American Dream, but the Strong Currency Conversion Dream of yours! This person got jittery. And seriously, I regretted knowing this person too, as, either the said philosophy this person learnt at workplace surroundings, or, inherited it only. And I regretted, not because I support or I’m against of any kind of (e)(i)mmigration, but, the TONE of this person was so Pitiful, despite being well-settled therein. Now, you might’ve got the point in one of my previous blog, what I was trying to prove. Regarding, it’s not about any Great X Country Dream, rather, it’s the Great Currency Conversion Dream, as for example, let’s say (1USD=84INR), and this matters. But then came the Wars, back then, two decades back, and more Labour in the World (in terms of Blue or White Collar Jobs, and also in Terms of Activism, Separatism) was needed; and due to this, the ONLY Country on this Planet, that respected Inklings + Tastes + Mindset, and it was indeed US; alas, eventually, lost this paradigm/model forever! And this I saw from my own eyes, experienced it, sensed, and took a scent of it.
Now, issue is not Mr. Trump’s rise. Issue is, MAGA wants De-Globalization, but the road to De-Globalization is VIA De-Dollarization. Would they agree, and that’s the biggest question. Because, once the Currencies become Equal everywhere; then, whatever the migration would take place henceforth in the World, may mostly be due to if someone thinks, that his/her mindset or mentality match of that particular X country only. As, honestly, why would someone be a full time punjabi singer/any other singer in USA, if the Currencies become Equal? And if currencies become equal, then, being one there, would’ve a genuine explanation; as it could be for representation, or to spread roots, or because public truly likes it, and so on, and everyone would accept it.
Now, if you would say, people shift due to better living standards, then by giving this logic, we’ve lost the conversation only; as, crowd + mindset + mentality, makes a locality; and not the living standards alone. Else, the living standards were good even on the Jeffrey’s Island, then why condemn it? Why not go to Qatar too and live a million dollar dream?
And one day, even UAE would adopt and open the same page, what US has done with the rise of Mr. Trump. 😊
