Marc Andreessen: “We’re
heading into a world where a flat-screen TV that covers your entire wall costs
$100 and a 4-year degree costs $1M (sic)”
Narayan Murthy: “IITs
victims of the tyranny of coaching classes.”
But again, who’s
complicit? Ans. -> The Group Dynamics!
How many enrolled students in IVY League flunk every year? I couldn’t get a precise number on web, & I don’t want to quote from quora or reddit. Does that mean, mere entry into these Institutes is difficult but not the course itself?
Or maybe, their faculties are so impeccable who train students what other Institutes (Regular or Distance) can’t impart? Maybe that’s why students take assistance of coaching centers initially & splurge on it to clear entrance examinations; & once enrolled, never furthermore require outside assistance to clear campus’s course modules? There’s a famous Ad of
T.I.M.E. education where Dean of IIM ask the students to introduce themselves.
And almost all one by one state that, ‘They’re from T.I.M.E.’ In the
end, the Ad statistically proves that 51.5% of the students in IIM (2007-2009)
batch were from T.I.M.E. Another recent study on web says >75% of the
Students in IITs/NITs are from coaching centers, rather, via self-studying. The
making of Kota’s swingers’ Academia isn’t a one-day event too. It was forged
consistently for decades in India.
I’m aware about some
entities (not personally) who couldn’t get into IITs, studied in some random
colleges affiliated to any University, yet, got admitted in Ivy Leagues or
alike. Why is it so? Is it again because the toughest entrance exam is merely to
easily filter from a Billion population, rather, catering ideas,
inventions of the individuals, that coerce others to approach global Institutes
who might take cognizance of the latter? Or, is it mere annual fees of
$100k-$300k that plays role anywhere in the World? Not only that, I’ve known
entities (not personally) from distance/correspondence courses, who were
exceptional Coders. In ISRO, hardly 2% (2014 RTI Application published) of IITians/NITians work; Yet, ISRO is a
far better performer, and humble & generous too, in its evolution! Maybe better
than the organizations governed by IITians & NITians today. I'm citing earlier data because that facilitated such foundations.
Group dynamics matter!
FTX, ICICI Kochhar’s case, SVB, Lehman, Credit Suisse, Quadriga, pay per click
/ money for views / CTR alike unpalatable policies etc. isn’t about
Individual complicity but due to Group Dynamics.
Traditions are not the
problem. It’s how you carry those traditions, that matter. Languages aren’t the
problem, but the tone in which that language is spoken, matters. There’s
difference between eating with a spoon or hand VS making noise or
covering entire palm with food, on the platter.
The root cause of all sorrows
and joy could be found in Academia because from there, the fruits are nurtured.
Alas, we watered the former by printing the same Group Dynamics every semester,
every year! Just another brick on the wall!
And if Marc Andreessen
is correct, then Leftists would occupy Government Institutes; The Rich/Upper
Middle Class (Right, Left, Center) would occupy Private Institutes; and
the Middle Class would continue to serve as Slaves to both on Bank Loans,
subject to if they could get one!
