Authentication!

In few of my earlier blogs on www.jpranavc.in / www.jpranavcip.com, I elucidated in detail UDRP/INDRP, Domain Name Disputes, How it works, where to start with & how to follow the chain.

Albeit this particular blog is out of subject, but I took a leaf out of them.

I’m writing this as a blogger & self e-publisher w.r.t. the recent debate on Verification of all Twitter user accounts, which I always supported and even wrote in favour

of it for the last few years. I also wrote about auto plagiarism tools on blogging platforms, whether Twitter or Blogger or Tumblr, which should either work alike Turnitin, or, check Similarity Index from its individual Databases’, instantly, before (in the draft) or post publishing.

Now, I somehow still follow the Internet Era of late 90s - early 00 (so I’m restricted to writing blogs only (micro or macro)). But as the Internet mushroomed, so do the content. The main problem is lack of details of its origin. Means, this isn’t Yahoo Messenger era of trust of late 90s where conversation merely started with just m/f/l. Time changed. And lack of Authenticity/monetization merely on number of Clicks or Referrals basis etc., led to the collapse of essence of Internet. But I’ve a suggestion to sanitize it. And here it goes:

Involve ICANN?

What Domain Name is to Website; Verification should be to Twitter or Tumblr. Pay & Use, Subscription based? Even better. So let’s say I own a domain name for which I pay annual renewal fees. Now, if as a user, I create a new account on Twitter for micro micro blogs, I should be able associate/link my new account with my domain name login (via Registrar, the same way we make online payment via OTP on Bank’s Page) to Auto Verify me as a User / year, with some additional charges paid to Twitter or Tumblr for handling my Tweets or Posts. Just alike directing any domain name to Blogger or Wordpress, bought from any Registrar, which establishes authenticity. Lock the name of the User (Registrant) with the one in the Registry, circumventing impersonation chances. For Governments, Political Figures, Institutions, an Official tag as being used today should be continued. For the Rest, Pay & Subscription mode verification, via IDing, but again, Locking the names! Also, unless the name being used in Trade or Services and has become well-known, none can claim monopoly over any name or surname.

This would at least verify the Blogging Platforms, which I’m interested in. For the likes of Youtube, the way they started the concept of Handler, if the same handler can be authenticated via same procedure, would be great.
