Circus

Time when Sphere enwreathed with smoke & flames,
Lands skedaddled making friends or foes or who to blame;
The Kingdom that once conquered from east to west,
Eventually disenthralled one by one lands it possessed.

As no sight was left or weapons more to rule,
Potentates fell with lands ingurgitating wounds;
Amidst Birth of free will, more rose for throne,
Though 'Bread & Circus' shalt now not be ignored.

Demesne where souls were free to sail across shores,
Structure engraved with 'Assuage' that buttressed as core;
The gladiators fought some day, animals sometimes,
Some 'Welcomed' it while some 'Despair' rhymed.
